Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about Image Control Photography, the Essex based Wedding Photography Specialists..
Will you travel outside Essex for weddings?
We will photograph your wedding anywhere we are needed. We have even carried out a wedding in Mexico, although that was a one-off, but we will of course travel around Essex and the surrounding areas.
What photographic equipment do you use?
We ONLY use Nikon cameras & lenses. This is because, we believe Nikon produces the best equipment for this type of photography. Our ethos is to provide the best photography and therefore we are not prepared to use cheaper equipment that may compromise the quality we always strive to attain.
Is wedding photography your full time occupation?
Yes, I am a full time professional photographer running a busy photography business in Essex and yes I am fully insured So that’s the boring stuff out of the way but more importantly I am passionate about my work and love what I do. It is this passion that drives Elaine and me to create something special for our client.
What happens when we make our booking?
When you make a booking for your wedding for your day, the day is reserved for you. Please be assured, we do not photograph two weddings on one day as we find that carrying out two weddings will dilute the times and effort for both occasions. We believe the most important part of wedding photography is the rapport you build up with your clients. After booking your wedding, we will listen and advise you about want you require, give you any guidance and make sure you get the wedding photography you want.
Are there any other products available?
There are various options available from fine wall art coverings to metallic photographs. Also a selection of luxury wedding books. The wedding industry is huge and we hope we are able to procure anything you may wish for.
When do we need to book you?
We get up to 200 enquires a year and are now booking into 2016. Therefore, if you have a date in mind, please let us know as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Do you edit the photographs before you present them?
Of course, no photographs leave our office without going through our editing suite. We pride ourselves on the quality of our wedding photography thus everything is checked to get you the very best possible photographs.
What storybooks do you supply?
In our considered opinion there is only one storybook manufacturer worth considering and that is Graphistudio. Their wedding storybooks are quite simply superb. Having been around in Essex for many years, I can honestly say that we have never seen a better wedding storybook. I do confess that they are not particularly cheap, however for your treasured wedding memories, they really are the best available.
I want to book you for my wedding, what do I do?
Please send an email or give us a call. We will then arrange a meeting and go through everything with you. Wedding photography is a very “People” profession, thus we get together and work out what you want and how we are going to get the photographs right. We work in partnership with you, offering advice, if required, while making sure you are in control. It’s your wedding day and we always remember that.
Can you offer video services as?
We do offer a video service for relevant parts of the wedding i.e. the ceremony, speeches, first dance and guest-to-camera pieces, however our main activity is the still photographic service.
Why are there two of you?
Elaine and I concentrate on different aspects of the wedding and we play to each other’s strengths thus making sure we capture everything. Weddings tend to move very quickly and capturing everything is difficult if there is only one photographer. Both Elaine are very experienced wedding photographers and are confident that we will record your wedding to you satisfaction.
How early will you arrive?
This depends on what type of package you require. In general we will arrive 90 minutes before the ceremony. That allows us time to record the venue and atmosphere, the wedding dress and the latter part of the brides preparations. If you would like us there earlier, that’s not a problem, just let us know.
Is there a charge for hotel accommodation & travel?
It would be very unusual for us to require an over-night stay in a hotel as most of our wedding photography is shot in Essex. It’s a huge county but we really don’t mind travelling. Please note: Mileage charges may apply for weddings over a 100 miles away.
Love them or hate them, you will always like to have the family photographed together and that’s not problem at all. However, when it comes to groups of friends from school etc, it can over run and take away precious time reserved for the other photographs. So please bear this mind. The best bet is to make your photograph list beforehand and leave it with us before the wedding day. Also, it’s always a good idea to have someone from the bridal party who can call people into shots. (Usually one of the ushers/groomsmen).
Do we sign a contract?
We ask all our couples to sign a wedding photography contract as this protects you and us. It states everything about the day, what time we will be with you and what time we leave, the type of package you have bought, how the copyright works and of course the payment details.
Is VAT included in your prices?
We are classified as a small business and thus we are under the VAT threshold. Therefore, No VAT will be payable on any of our merchandise.
I hate the camera and feel totally ill-at-ease in front of it. What can you do?
Expecting our bride to be as relaxed as Kate Moss is in front of a camera is a little silly and very few people will know how to behave in front of one. We know this, but however after many years of wedding photography, we have a huge amount of experience in gently coaxing, charming, persuading and even cajoling brides and grooms into attractive and pleasing positions. In short, we help to make you feel relaxed and happy to be in front of the camera.
Will I get thousands of photographs?
We take an awful lot of photographs on the day and some of these photographs will be removed as doubles (remember we shoot 3 photographs per group shot, just to make sure we have a good photograph) and deliver around 400 to 500 edited photographs for your selection..
Can my guests take photographs as well?
We are your professional wedding photographers for the day and we have had many years of working around wedding guests. There is no way we would ever ask them to stop and sometimes have even given them tips on how to take better photographs. There is only one time we like to be on our own with the bride and groom and that is when we take them away from the main group for some romantic photography.
